The Diesel Particulate Filter captures ash and burned particles from the exhaust system. For $850 in parts and $375.00 in labor I now have a 2013 Golf TDI DPF/CAT/EGR Filter and exaust flap in my 2010 Jetta. The egr itself, the intake manifold and maybe even the induction system depending on whichever crankcase venting system you have. At this point you should contact your recovery company or Volkswagen Assistance on 0800 777192 if your VW is under 1 year old (Phaeton & Touareg have a 3 year breakdown cover).
