By the end of the two weeks, Ruben made sure that I was very well prepared for my checkride. I'm currently completing the 14 day accelerated CFI training program at Berichi in their 2020 Skyhawk. (extremely interesting to me due to my military background in avionics maintenance). Shawn really made the process seem easy. The upfront cost of AFIT is high, but I have no doubt that those two weeks cost less than traditional flight training,which is inefficient and takes many more hours spread over months or years. Back in Vegas, I failed my written test and within 2 days of working with Ruben, I passed the written test with an 85%. My instructor, David C., was a great teacher who moved at my pace and really let me go as quick as I wanted. Ruben as my instructor, made my course as easy and stress free as possible. These traits carried over to my flight training with John. I cannot recommend Ruben highly enough to anyone looking to expand their ratings.. He is someone who understands my learning style. After receiving my private pilots license and heading back home, I took a checkout ride for a rental aircraft at my local airport. The program was billed to me as a two-year program (since I had my gen eds out of the way) where I would finish with my four-year degree as well as a commercial certificate and maybe even my CFI certificate. The flight instructors have a very busy schedule with multiple students and it is difficult for them to give you priority of focus and difficult to get on the schedule with them regularly. I definitely picked the right accelerated PPL program for me with AFIT. He does this using real life examples on the ground and in the air. He worked as hard as I did! My Designated Pilot examiner Mark was a great examiner who helped me with my nervousness and at the end of the day said I passed. He is knowledgeable, and has extensive training & experience in all areas of aviation. Item #5: Check that your flying school has suitable aircraft and instructor availability. We have a 90% completion rate and a greater than 90% first time pass rate on the practical test! He taught me good pilot attitude in the air with ATC and other pilots. You dont get these views anywhere else unless youre in the skies. I am very glad I came prepared and had already studied a lot. He has a special chair out by the runway and when you solo for the first time, he goes and sits in the chair and watches you take flight and land the plane all on your own.
